Dear ALL,

Ven. Khenpo Shenphen is coming to Penang again this Sunday ! He will be
leading us for Life Release ceremony and give some brief sharing on the
Dharma after the ceremony. I'm sure those who has met him before will
definitely still remember him of his kindliness, friendliness and his
enthusiasm to the Dharma.
Welcome to share the Dharma bliss !
Sadhu ! Sadhu ! Sadhu !
Khenpo Shenpen is the resident teacher taking care of UTBF centers in
Southeast Asia. He currently resides at the UTBF center in Singapore, the
Astopaputra Society.
Shenpen was born in 1971 in Derge, Kham, Tibet. Since childhood, he had a
strong interest in Dharma. With his parents' consent, Khenpo was ordained
in the Trungram Monastery in 1980. In the monastery, he studied Tibetan and
also completed the study and recitation of standard Karma Kagyu scriptures,
practice texts and rituals under the guidance of Aten Rinpoche.
Following the instruction of Trungram Gyaltrul Rinpoche, starting in 1990
Shenpen studied at Nalanda Institute, Sikhim, followed by four years of
study with khenpos of the Nyingma tradition in Nepal. In 1998, Shenpen was
sent by Gyaltrul Rinpoche to the Trungram Monastic Institute at Sankhu,
Nepal, to teach. He gave courses at the Institute until 2000. In the same
year, he was conferred the title of khenpo.
Due to persistent requests of disciples in the various Dharma centers to
have resident lamas, in July 2001, Gyaltrul Rinpoche appointed Khenpo
Shenpen to be the resident teacher in Singapore, covering also Malaysia and
Indonesia. Since then, he has been residing in the Singapore center and
visiting the two other places regularly. He has been instrumental in
developing the Malaysia center, and also serves as its Spiritual Advisor.
Aside from giving teachings, Khenpo frequently leads group practices,
conducts retreats and ceremonies, and organizes life release. His in-depth
knowledge of the Dharma and his clear and patient teachings are a sure
inspiration to the students.
Thank you.
Regards,
Siew Kee LIM
